FAQ

you ask, we answer

Surface treatment

At which point during a project should you plan the anti-slip treatment?

As soon as possible, even before you choose the material. Some materials with higher anti-slip properties can change the appearance of the stone considerably. We therefore recommend sampling a variety of materials before installation to ensure you obtain the desired results.

It is customary for the floor to be treated after it has been laid. This can lead to unpleasant surprises and conflicts between the customer and the layer. In the past, we also treated floors with acid and are therefore well aware of the pitfalls of this process. Performed on-site, this technique neither guarantees the desired result nor frees parties of liability in the event of accidents. And this means the parties are taking an unnecessary risk by investing in the project. Even to laypeople, the changes and corrosion are visible to the naked eye. Imagine the frustration for a contractor when a customer brings up these alterations. It’s even more annoying when some parts of the floor are less slip-resistant than others.

When is the right time to think about anti-slip surfaces?

As early as possible. Meaning in the early stages of planning. Then you can save costs, because you can already plan the delivery date for the finished flooring. In contrast, the worst time is once slippery material has already been installed. Then there are only two alternatives: either I tear out the flooring again to install a newly finished one. Or I work on the flooring directly on site, which usually causes more costs and delivers an unstable result. Then that would not be a certified surface finish.

How cumbersome is the maintenance of floors after treatment with the micro-blasting method?

In particular, companies specialized in laying have the advantage with us of being able to get finished and waterproofed surfaces delivered to them. So, there is no finishing work at the construction site to make the floor water and oil-proof. For regular floor maintenance, we have a care product for the special needs. As with other aspects of natural stone, there should be no experiments with wrong cleaning and care products! Those who follow the care instructions will have an easy-to-maintain, presentable floor. Even in highly frequented areas of the store.

Which rating groups does the haid-tec® procedure reach?

The haid-tec® process as a mechanical process to achieve a defined slip resistance reaches the slip resistance classes R9, R10, R11 for the commercial sector and classes A, B, C for barefoot areas.

What special properties do the surfaces treated by haid-tec® have?

Increased slip resistance for polished as well as matt floor and stair coverings, in particular made of mineral materials such as granite, marble, artificial stones, porcelain stoneware, ceramics. The aesthetic appearance is largely retained.

What dimensions can be processed at the factory?

The systems are designed for slabs up to 2.40 × 3.10 meters in size.

Which current references can be referred to?

Within a few years, haid-tec was able to establish itself across the industry and acquire innovation leadership.

A small selection:

  • In the industrial sector, several thousand square meters of steps and flooring made of granite and porcelain stoneware were processed for the market-leading construction machine manufacturer Liebherr;
  • in the retail sector, several tens of thousands of square meters of stoneware for the Müller drugstore chain; and machined several hundred thousand square meters of porcelain stoneware covering for a market-leading retail company.

MelaminPlusPad

What makes the OE (MPP OE) pad unique?

The OE pad is only 15 mm thick to allow the high-frequency vibrations from the machine’s vibrating plate to be transferred directly to the floor. The pad can only remove dirt when the vibrations are transferred to the floor.

The vibrations must not “escape” via the back or the foam of the pad – otherwise the pad will remain motionless and have no impact on the floor.

Introduced at CMS Berlin 2019, our innovative MPP OE is composed of premium composite foam made from melamine resin with a firmly-attached Velcro back that is ideal for transferring the machine’s high-frequency vibrations. After use, the Velcro back comes off easily without leaving fibers on the Velcro hooks of the vibrating plate.

What is the difference between standard (MPP) and basic (MPP basic) MelaminPlusPads?

Basic pads were developed for use with single-disc machines, and therefore, without an opening in the foam.

Standard pads are pads for scrubber-driers, and therefore, have an opening in the foam for mounting in the pad holder with centerlock. In daily maintenance cleaning, the motor head of the machine is moved up and down many times. Therefore, we recommend using pad holders with centerlock, which ensure proper hold of the pad.

Why do melamine pads come in different colors?

Due to the manufacturing process, the color or share of gray and white melamine foam may vary. However, we use exclusively BASF foam, so there is no difference in cleaning performance.

How can I order MelaminPlusPads and PolyPlusPads?

After a successful check and activation, you can conveniently order all of our products in our online shop. melaminpad-shop.com

What is the difference between MelaminPlusPad and PolyPlusPad?

MelaminPlusPads consist of refined melamine foam and have the best possible mechanical cleaning performance. PolyPlusPads have special approx. 10 mm long fibers and good “depth effect”, especially on very structured surfaces. They are washable up to 60 ° C and have a very long service life.

What are the general advantages of using haid-tec MelaminPlusPads?

Flooring can be cleaned with minimal time, effort and chemical use.

For which purposes can a haid-tec MelaminPlusPad be used?

There have been many years of experience using them to clean mineral floor coverings, porcelain stoneware tiles, natural stone, artificial stone and structured surfaces.

What materials are the haid-tec MelaminPlusPads made from?

The haid-tec MelaminPlusPads are made from refined melamine foam.

Why is melamine foam used for a cleaning pad?

Melamine foam can achieve an outstanding mechanical cleaning performance on mineral floor coverings.

What advantage is there in comparison to pure melamine?

Pure melamine tears easily. Refined melamine foam, however, is more tear-proof. This leads to longer lifetimes – on polished surfaces for example up to ten hours instead of one hour with pure melamine pads.

Whose idea was it to use the special melamine foam as a cleaning pad?

The company haid-tec from Rottenacker, Germany was the first to implement these newly developed pads as a cleaning solution for porcelain stoneware. Here the challenge was to remove a layer of grey fog, that had formed on the surface of the porcelain stoneware flooring, particularly as a result of using inappropriate cleaning products.

Which types of cleaning can be carried out with the haid-tec MelaminPlusPad®?

Basic cleaning: Use of e.g. 16-inch MelaminPlusPad on a single-disc machine.

Daily cleaning: regular use in daily cleaning, equipping the scrubber-drier machines with the corresponding MelaminPlusPads.

How are MelaminPlusPads mounted onto scrubber-drier machines?

The haid-tec MelaminPlusPad® is simply mounted onto the pad holder of the scrubber-drier machine. The floor is then travelled over as normal with the machine.

Which factors is the cleaning performance dependent upon?

The more slowly and frequently the floor is covered by the cleaning machine, and the higher its contact pressure, the better the cleaning performance.

Are references available for the haid-tec MelaminPlusPad®?

haid-tec MelaminPlusPads have been used successfully for years on floor coverings by market leaders in industry, trade and business.
